										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: justify;">Berger Paints India Limited, the second largest paint company in the country has presented its Q3 FY 2018-19 numbers today after market hours.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The Company&#8217;s revenues from operations, standalone basis, for the quarter ended 31st December 2018 was INR 1460.1 Cr as against INR 1206.3 Cr in the same corresponding quarter of the last year, representing an increase of 21% year-on-year basis. Revenues for last quarter (July-Sept &#8217;18) was INR 1330.45 Cr, registering 9.75% growth QoQ basis.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">EBIDTA (excluding other income) for Oct to Dec &#8217;18 quarter was INR 209.8 Cr versus INR 198 Cr for the same period last year, showing a 6% increase YoY.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The Company&#8217;s Net Profit for the period ended 31st December 2018 was INR 119.5 Cr as against INR 111.2 Cr in the same corresponding quarter of the last year, representing an increase of 7.4% year-on-year basis. Company&#8217;s QoQ profit grew by 16.5% (INR 102.28 Cr)</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">For the numbers, 4 companies out of 5 able to register improvements in the Revenue in April to June quarter of 2017-18 as compared to same period last year (1 fails to do so) while only 1 company able to register growth in Profits and 4 other fails to do so.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><em>The Common Parameters for such Dismal Performance for the Sector are</em> </strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">(1) an upward trend in material prices which had an impact on margins,</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">(2) the decorative business registered low / single-digit volume growth in the first quarter,</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">(3) the financials could also have been impacted due to the impact of goods and services tax (GST).</p>
<h3>Market Leader Performance:</h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Market leader <a href="http://www.bseindia.com/xml-data/corpfiling/AttachHis/d54aa72c-fea6-4ef5-8f23-a38f427dfbd0.pdf">Asian Paints</a> registered 5.57% growth in Revenues and 19.98% de-growth in Profits as compared to the same period last year.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Star Performer in the Sector:</h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The star performer in the sector for the quarter ended 3 June 2017 was <a href="http://www.bseindia.com/xml-data/corpfiling/AttachHis/29C5A764_D245_47CD_B27A_198262063AF4_131831.pdf">Kansai Nerolac</a> where the company showed 11.32% increment in profit and 10.91% growth in Revenue as compared to same period last year.</p>

<p>Q4 was somewhat better for the Paint sector. Click here for <a href="http://www.finblab.com/paint-sector-q3-oct-dec-16-numbers-analysis/"><strong>Q3 Results</strong></a>.</p>
<p>Though India’s decorative business registered low double-digit growth in Q4, all the three paint companies posted good performance as far as revenues are concern &#8211; thanks to the good demand conditions in auto OEM and general industrial business.</p>
<p>As far as numbers are concern, the profits of 2 companies were up in the range of 10% to 18%, while revenues were up for all the in the range between 7% to 10%.</p>
<p>Market leader Asian Paints and Akzo Nobel has posted a good set of numbers both in profits as well as revenues, while Kansai Nerolac posted a decline in profits and marginally increment in revenues.</p>
<p><strong>Star Performer in the Sector:</strong></p>
<p>The star performer in the sector for the quarter ended 31 March 2017 was “Kansai Nerolac” where the company showed 18.13% increment in profit and 9.78% growth in Revenue as compared to same period last year.</p>
